Richard Hallion has provided a seminal work on the development of aerial battlefield interdiction and close air support from the first decade of powered flight until the end of the Second World War.

I really enjoyed this book; it draws together very nicely the kaleidoscopic picture of the strategic, tactical, and technological developments, the political trends, and the major players in the world of attack aviation during the tumultuous early 20th century.
