Amazing! Couldn't put it down.
What attracted me to this book was the history of Native Americans prior to European conquest.

Excellent supplement to Cabeza de Vaca's Narrative
I have always been fascinated by Cabeza de Vaca's dramatic story of survival in early 16th Century North America after being shipwrecked on the Texas coast.

NOT A WINNER
The epic story of the first crossing of North America, if you consider a lost party going from Fla into Tex and Mexico an epic crossing of North America.

The title says it all
This book shows to the modern reader what can happen when an expedition of exploration and exploitation is lead by a person who has very little sense, and who just goes and follows his own ideas.

Good commentary
This is an engaging commentary on Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca's account of his eight years of wandering in North America at the dawn of the European presence.

More Hype than History
Because there are only two source documents in existence about the Narvaez Expedition, Schneider spends a lot of the book hypothesising about what occurred.

Cabeza de Vaca
If you want to read one book on Cabeza de Vaca's travels this is probably the one.
