The Mayan Prophecies: Unlocking the Secrets of a Lost Civilization
Reviews (10)
More for the Mayan Prophecy followers...
Interesting book...
Maybe they should stick to facts more and speculate less
Gilbert and Cotterell do not seem like top Maya scholars, but they do understand the Mayan obsession with world creation, destruction, and rebuilding.
Pseudoscience at best
I was less than impressed by this book and actually used it for a project in my class Myths and Mysteries in Archaeology.
GOOD BUT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER
THIS BOOK IS FASCINATING, HOWEVER IF YOU DON'T LIKE SCIENTIFIC READING IT MAY BE HARD TO FOLLOW.
Very dissappointing
It was implied that the earth's magnetic field reversed 3K years BC.
The Mayan prophecies
Starting off I knew nothing of native Central Americans.
Stirs the curiosity
The authors ably stir one's curiosity with this perspective left out of scholastic history classes.
GREAT READ, WELL WRITTEN
This well written, very readable book is the most compelling I have read on the mythology and religion of the Maya.
Title somewhat misleading
When seeing the title of the book for the first time, I expected something a little broader in focus than just the end of the present world age.
Very good background information
I have limited knowledge in the world of the Maya but let me say that after reading this book i have planned a trip to the Yucatan penn for next year.
