This historical review of Elisabeth's history as Queen was nowhere near as gripping as her historical novel describing Elizabeth childhood.

Having read Weir's non-fiction, The Princes in the Tower, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I knew that this biography of Queen Elizabeth I would be worth investing in as well.

I read The Virgin's Lover by Philippa Gregory and was disturbed about the rather rabid anti-elizabeth tenor and could not empathise with the deeply humane and genteel qualities that Mary Tudor had been attributed in the book considering her reputation Bloody Mary.
