I was expecting some good depth but instead I feel like a great deal of the commentary is fluff or sounds like someone's personal exposition.

Just as I was starting my more-or-less annual read through the scriptures, a good friend suggested the Navarre Bible as an excellent resource.

This series is the BEST commentary I have found.
