4 stars for recorded sound, 5 stars for Bohm/Vienna's interpretation
This DG recording may be a bit light in the bass register, but Bohm/Vienna turn in another great recording of Bruckner 7, along with Symphony 4, one of his most popular Symphonies.

An Amazing Bruckner´s Seventh
Karl Boehm's interpretations often discourage the record-lovers by what actually is their greatest merit: they are composer-true.

A fine achievement
I doubt if I would ever choose a Bohm performance as a \"best ever\" but in this effort he's in the company of the greats.

The Best of Bohm's Bruckner
Bohm's performance of Bruckner's 7th with the Vienna Phil is, at present, my prime recommendation for this symphony.

One of Bohm's best Bruckner recordings
I have left Karl Bohm off my list of collectible conductors because what he stands for -- traditional, straight-ahead, no-nonsense musickmaking -- falls short of what I value: originality, depth of feeling, and a larger vision.

The best sounding Bruckner 7th...sheer pleasure
Like the previous reviewer, I am perplexed by the lack of notice for this CD.

One of the two best Bruckner Seventh's (tied with Jochum's 1964 DG version with the Berlin Philharmonic as my favorite)
I really wasn't expecting much before I heard this, but boy how wrong could I be!

A Magnificent Obsession... Bruckner's 7th Symphony.
Owning 28 recordings of this symphony, and supposing I was allowed to choose only one to take along to that desert island, I would have to pick this one, sure that it would act as a most soothing balm to the harshness of my plight; incidentally, this would be the second time that a recording bringing together Karl Bhm, the Wiener Philharmoniker and a beloved composer has the power to fill me with feelings of bliss, admiration and gratitude - the other being Beethoven's 6th symphony, in DGG's mid-price collection, 'the originals'.
